[Contiki-developers] Getting to IP-based communication on contiki

Hi,

I want to get use to IP-based WSN and i've read about uIP and 6loWPAN
being implemented on contiki but i dont really know how to start using
those protocols. So, i want to know if they are examples provided with
Contiki which can help me. If that is the case, how could i get it to
work. If they aren't such examples, gives me some tips on how to
develop applications wich communicate on a IP-based network.

You can look at the examples folder. Under the examples/IPv6/rpl-border-
router you can build the router and under the examples/er-rest-example you
can find examples of how to use the CoAP application protocol (to build a
CoAP server).

With this setup the lower layers that will be used are IPv6 and 6LoWPAN.
Then you can use Copper

https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/copper-270430/

to perform requests to your server. All these depend also on the platform
you are using.

Hi Guy,

Contiki OS is very good for that, and it's easy to use.

Contiki OS has implemented uIP stack with IPv6, ND and 6LoWPAN protocol. I
recommend you that start with VM Instant Contiki. You can download last
version here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/contiki/files/Instant%20Contiki/

Instant Contiki has last version of Contiki OS code.

Then I recommend you that start with Cooja simulator. Contiki OS has many
examples that it's usefull for learning. I started with udp-server and
udp-client that you can find on contiki/examples/udp-ipv6/

Do you have any hardware platform for flash?

Thanks guys. I tried to simulate the udp-ipv6 example on sky motes in cooja
but it didnt work. Perhaps, it worked on physical sensor nodes. How can i
get it to work in cooja?
